Radical Welcome (11 mins)- Dan Wilt

Dan Wilt (a great communicator) talks of radical welcome – telling the life story of his wife’s Armenian grandmother, Siranouche and her experience and practice of extreme hospitality, which was how she survived the genocide of her people.

From this and the book of Ruth in the bible, he unpacks what radical welcome is:

  • to see who a person has been, and to accept them regardless of their past
  • to see who a person can become and to empower them for their preferred future
  • to see who a person is, and to embrace them in the middle of their present, no matter how beautiful or how ugly it is

“Radical welcome and hospitality is a choice of the heart – it is a practised virtue”

“It wields the power to change: inconsolable weeping into impenetrable joy, dehumanizing death into compassionate life, disorienting turbulence into sweet Shalom and virulent hatred into everlasting always engaging and relentlessly invigorating love.”
