“Looking forward” – sequencer of human genome

“I spend the absolute majority of my time looking forward, very little time looking back”

John Craig Venter.

A 4 minute intro to the man and his work, by National Medals of Science.  (Actually, it’s just over 3 minutes, there is a massive long list of credit titles which are like a who’s who of the science community.)

Hints here of a life of discovery hingeing on surviving a difficult life period (year in Vietnam), chance encounter with another human who drew him into what would be his life’s work, an abiding curiosity and that relentless looking forward, rather than being stuck in the past.
