“Common People” – Pulp – the story

“Common People” was a hit for the band, Pulp. How much of the lyrics were true?

And here it is in all its glory at Paris, Olympia

But if that seems like an energetic performance, prepare yourself for the ultimate no holds barred emotionalism of William Shatner, forever famous as Captain Kirk in Star Trek.  To add to the fun, a fan has carefully spliced together outrageous antics from the Sci Fi series, which ‘match’ the words with that overwhelming literalness which makes it hilarious.  So, for example, we hear a lyric about dogs and see a clip of a unicorn/dog hybrid from the TV series (which is clearly an ordinary dog with a horn strapped to its forehead and wrapped in a mangey rug.)  Hilarious, (hopefully intentionally).
