Michael Bierut, graphic designer, speaks about his mentor the much-respected Massimo Vignelli and how his graphic design still makes the New York Subway system move faster – his signage helps people locate and move towards where they want to go.
For under 8 minutes, Michael explains good graphic design, memorably ending with a thoughtful “I’ve never said it that way before.” This must rate as one of the best illustrated talks, as there are copious examples of gorgeous design which has lasted through the years. A great way to discover what makes a logo last – and why one in particular has fallen out of favour.
If you’d like to find out more of what helped Michael Beirut reach his full potential – how he got many mentors and how you can too – then don’t miss his advice, noted in an earlier post.
